Memphis Apple Store The store is described as having a high-flung ceiling lined with light panels and spotlights, which illuminate product display tables that have been arranged to maximize floorspace and achieve a sense of openness. On May 31, 2020, the store was pre-emptively boarded up during nationwide protests related to George Floyd. On March 14, 2020, newer Saddle Creek store location was closed during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten iPhones, six MacBooks, and an iMac were stolen. In August 2007, the original Saddle Creek store location was robbed after its front window had been smashed. The store was boarded up on during the George Floyd protests. The previous store location was taken over by Victoria’s Secret, then Lucky Brand Jeans, and most recently, Evereve. The 4,000-square-foot location featured a storefront with sheet glass and short metal bollards as protection from vehicles in the parking lot. On March 26, 2016, the new updated store was opened across the street within the Saddle Creek shopping center. The plans were unanimously approved by the Germantown Design Review Commission. In August 2015, Apple applied for a US$15 million building permit to renovate a larger space at Saddle Creek to become a "Next Generation" store. Its original grand opening date of September 22nd had been postponed as the local sign ordinance did not allow food items on signs, nor did it allow them to be lighted. It first opened as Apple Store Saddle Creek at 7615 West Farmington Boulevard within the Saddle Creek shopping center on October 13, 2001, becoming the first Apple retail store in Tennessee. ![]() The original storefront was designed by architect Art Gensler in direct collaboration with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. ![]() every day except Sundays, when it is open from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m.ĭuring the COVID-19 pandemic, its hours were temporarily changed to 9:00 a.m. This Apple Store is presently situated at 2031 West Street at the Shops of Saddle Creek in Germantown. ![]()
